Architect:Steamboat ArchitectureDesigners:Alpine DesignBuilder:Letson EnterprisesType:ResidenceAfter water damaged this home’s first floor, the owners decided it was time to make the changes to their home that they had always dreamed of making. Above all else, this client wanted a gathering place for family and friends. With this goal in mind, I designed a space that was functional, spacious, and inviting. Additionally, this client was passionate about French country design, so various French country aesthetics were incorporated into the kitchen, including a wine room, coffered ceilings, distressed white cabinetry, and an elegant range hood. Family is the focus in the dining room as well. The floor in the dining room features an hexagonal wood and tile inlay. This unique design feature invites family and friends to gather around the large round dining room table and share a meal. Despite its size, this home maintains a sense of togetherness due to its open concept layout. In this home, it is not uncommon to see adults gathered around the island in the kitchen while the kids joke in the living room and the teenagers play cards at the dining room table – and that is exactly the atmosphere my clients and I wanted to create in this space: a happy home for all.
