THE PROCESS

The design process can seem overwhelming for many – hundreds of decisions to be made with thousands of choices for each decision. It is my job to make these choices easy.

During our first meeting the client does most of the talking. We will discuss your goals for the space, the way you want to live in the space, and the styles that resonate with you. I will hone in on a few key terms that come up during our discussion and work to make the space match your needs. For example, if you emphasize that you would like your kitchen to be functional, comfortable, and modern, then I would design an efficient working kitchen filled with tones that make you feel at home. After our initial meeting, a series of images are usually exchanged, in which I show you materials or spaces that I believe reflect your style. You, in turn, show me anything that inspires you. After receiving this visual input, I put together a design board. This board is a jumping off point, a suggestion as to where the space can go. We discuss each piece of the design and modify it in keeping with the clients’ tastes. This is my favorite part of the design process, when my client and I get to work as a team to create the perfect design for their space and their lifestyle. This multistep process honors the client’s desires and ensures that the finished space checks every box on the client’s wish list.
